Mold Inspection

What is Mold and how can it affect my family or business?

Molds and fungi are some of the most abundant, resilient and sometimes deadliest organisms, which grow and thrive in nature. Molds and fungi grow in many varieties. They are the delicious Portabella mushrooms you eat, as well as the deadly Stachybotrys Chartarum (a.k.a. “toxic black mold”) that could be growing in your water damaged or moisture laden home or commercial property. In local communities, like Vestavia Hills, these living organisms grow in different forms and affect other living organisms (the mold’s food source) in many different ways.

There are literally tens of thousands of different types of these molds and fungi organisms. We humans and our loved ones, including our pets, come in contact with molds on a daily basis. They truly are unavoidable, especially in warm, high humidity climates, like we have in the Birmingham Metro Area.

What is a Mold Inspection?

Our team at DynoDry Structural Drying, Inc., has been certified by the Southeastern Mold Institute (SEMI) to inspect, test and remediate mold from residential and commercial structures. We use the most technologically advanced moisture sensors and metering devices, including the “Flir i7” thermal imaging camera, to help locate the source of the moisture, which is one of the key elements mold needs to grow and thrive.

Once we identify the location and source with our equipment, as well as our trained eyes and noses, we take air samples and surface samples with various techniques, such as sampling with swabs and/or bio-tape. The samples are then sent to an independent lab for testing. Because of our urgency to provide property owners with adequate decision making information, we usually are able to get the lab report back to the property owner, along with a plan of action for remediation, within a few days.

Why is it important?

If you are experiencing “moldly” and/or “mildewy” smells, or seeing visible signs of discoloration on walls, floors or ceilings, the chances are very good you have a potential mold growth and/or water damage issue. Don’t wait until minor allergy and respitory ailments and symptoms develop into a debilitating illness. Young children, the elderly and people with immune deficiencies are in the highest risk group.

We at DynoDry Structural Drying, Inc., have the ability and knowledge to handle possible mold and water issues. One call for both problems makes a property owners life much easier, with less hassles.
